5 signs your cat is secretly a shonen protagonist
Nobody trained your cat to be dramatic. And yet.
Here are the five most reliable signs that your average tabby is actually the main character of an unpublished shonen manga.
1. They have a dramatic entrance sequence
Your cat does not simply enter a room. They pause at the doorway. They survey. They meow — but only once, and only to the ceiling. They walk in slow motion. This is not normal cat behavior. This is a Season 1 opening cinematic.
2. They have a nemesis that only they can see
Whether it's the neighbor's cat two houses down, a shadow on the wall, or the vacuum cleaner, your cat has locked eyes with an enemy of unimaginable power. They train for the encounter daily. Push-ups, sprints, staring contests with the fridge.
3. They have three "forms"
- Base form: asleep on the couch, looking soft
- Awakened form: the 3am zoomies
- Final form: when you try to give them a pill
4. They have a mysterious backstory nobody talks about
Where did they go for those three hours yesterday? Why do they stare at the west wall for exactly 15 minutes every Tuesday? What is behind the couch that they visit but never bring you? Questions with no answers. Classic protagonist energy.
5. Their signature move is unreasonably powerful
One tap of the paw. That's all it takes. A full glass of water on a hardwood floor. Your phone off the nightstand. A vase you liked. Nothing survives the signature move. Nothing.
The reveal
Your cat has been powering up the whole time. All those naps were meditation. All that staring was strategy. And you? You're the wise mentor who feeds them. Congratulations.
